A designated voltage area is a defined geographic region where a single utilization (secondary) voltage is assigned. All new electrical services and service upgrades within these areas are required to connect using that designated voltage.
These areas are established to:
- Ensure safe, reliable, and consistent electrical service
- Improve system efficiency and capacity management
- Avoid the complexity and limitations of supporting multiple voltages in the same area, particularly where space is constrained (e.g., poles and underground infrastructure)
We can't accept connection requests or upgrades that don’t meet these standards.
Use the maps below to find out if your connection request falls within a designated voltage area.
