Moving & Electrical Connections
You can submit an online request to open a new BC Hydro account, to move your service or close your account. You can also apply for new service connections or service upgrades.
Have your new address ready if you’re moving to a new home or business address. If you’re renting, you’ll also need your landlord’s contact information.
Existing customers can open additional accounts.
If you're a new customer to BC Hydro and need to open your first BC Hydro account, get started by signing up online.
To cancel your electrical service, let us know the date you’d like us to close the account at your home or business. If you have a forwarding address, have it ready.
If you're moving to an address that has an electrical connection, go immediately to start, stop or remove your service.
If you need BC Hydro service at a location that does not have an electrical connection (such as a new condo development, new vacation home or cabin), you will need to apply for a new electrical connection.
You can also submit a request to modify an electrical connection, permanently disconnect service or temporarily disconnect service for construction.

Connection requests for multi-residential, commercial and industrial buildings are more complex. Get started by calling our connections team.
Large equipment or load connected loads may require an industrial connection to our transmission or distribution service.
