Please review all information on this page before submitting your request.
If you need historical, aggregated peak load data for your apartment, strata property, commercial, or mixed-used building, you can request it on this page. This data is useful for those seeking information for their building’s mandatory electrical planning reports.
Before you begin, make sure you’ve reviewed our information about accessing peak load data for your building or strata.
Eligibility
This service is available for multi-unit commercial and residential buildings and stratas with five or more units (including apartments, townhome complexes, and mixed-use buildings).
For buildings with four or less units, including social housing complexes with a single meter, please have each account owner log in to MyHydro and download their consumption history for your preferred time period, then combine the data as needed.
Due to the volume of data requests we receive, requests for the same building within a three-month period will be declined.
Data you'll receive
You’ll receive a report in Excel format detailing the aggregated peak consumption in kilowatt-hours (kWh) over the most recent 12-month period. Peak demand can be calculated by converting the consumption data and applying a safety factor. Our data request glossary [PDF, 42 KB] explains the data points you may come across in your report.
Standard data points are provided based on the purpose of your request. For Electrical Planning Reports:
- You’ll receive a summary of the aggregated peak consumption.
- If available, data for the common meter will also be received.
- Refer to section 4.4.2 (1) of the Condominium Home Owners' Association of BC's guidance for the preparation of electrical planning reports [PDF, 871 KB] for more information.
For EV Ready plans, opportunity assessments, feasibility studies, and City of Vancouver New Electric Load Installation (NELI) forms, you’ll receive:
- A summary of the aggregated peak consumption.
- Hourly interval consumption data.
- If available, data for the common meter.
- If required, the option to request aggregated meter room data.
Data is aggregated based on the existing electrical distribution system:
- For single buildings served by one transformer, the report will show the aggregated peak consumption for the building.
- For complexes served through a customer-owned vault, the report will show the aggregated peak consumption for all services connected to the vault.
- For complexes served by multiple transformers, the report will show the aggregated peak consumption, separated by each transformer. The report will not include peak consumption data for un-meter or Transformer Ownership Discount (TOD) services.
What you'll need
- A list of service addresses or BC Hydro meter numbers.
- A completed site visit within the last 24 months. This includes reviewing your building’s electrical equipment and layout, meter rooms, any items serviced from electrical panels, and any transformers on site.
- If data has previously been requested for the same building, you may have received a reference number (CDR-####). Provide this in your request to help shorten its processing time. Note that requests for the same building within a three-month period will be declined.
- If your request is related to an opportunity assessment or feasibility study, you’ll need the associated application number.
- If you require aggregated meter room data, you’ll need a completed meter room aggregation form [XLSX, 150 KB] as our system captures the planned electrical design but doesn’t reflect the as-built configuration. Stratas can find a complete list of their unit numbers in their annual general meeting documents.
- If you're a contractor, consultant, or individual unit owner requesting the peak load data, you’ll need a completed building data authorization form [PDF, 59 KB] from the BC Hydro account holder (giving you consent to request this data).
Processing times
We process most requests within two weeks. Complex requests and requests with incomplete information provided may take up to six weeks.
