Move or cancel your service

Getting ready to move, or need to close an account? You can submit a request online to move, start or cancel BC Hydro electricity service in just a few steps.

If you're moving it's important that you contact us well before your move in date to set up your electricity service. This will ensure you have electricity when you move in and avoid any potential disruption to your service.

Setup fees and security deposits

There's a $12.40 + GST charge for all new accounts and moves. This charge will appear on your first BC Hydro bill. Accounts may also require a security deposit.

Landlords or property managers

If your tenants pay BC Hydro directly for electricity service, you can enter into a Rental Premise Agreement to manage a BC Hydro account for the vacant periods between tenants. This helps avoid delays in electrical service for any new tenants. Get started by filling out the application online.

Electrical connections

If you need to add BC Hydro service at a location that doesn’t have an electrical connection yet (such as a new condo development, new vacation home or cabin), you'll need to apply for a new electrical connection.
