Moving or canceling your BC Hydro service is easy. Here's what you need to know when starting and stopping service for your residence or business.
If you're moving it's important that you contact us well before your move in date to set up your electricity service. This will ensure you have electricity when you move in and avoid any potential disruption to your service.

Start a new BC Hydro account
For service at your home:
For service at a business:
- Sign up online for MyHydro first (if you haven't already).
- Your move in and move out dates for each address.
- Your new address.
- Phone number so we can reach you.
- If you're renting, your landlord's name and phone number.
Important:
There is a $12.40 + GST charge for all new accounts and moves. This charge will appear on your first BC Hydro bill. Accounts may also require a security deposit.
If you're a landlord or property manager for homes or businesses: If your tenants pay BC Hydro directly for electricity service, you can enter into a Rental Premise Agreement to manage a BC Hydro account for the vacant periods between tenants. This helps avoid delays in electrical service for any new tenants. Get started by filling out the application online.

- If you're a residential customer, sign up online for MyHydro first (if you haven't already). If you already have an existing BC Hydro account, link it to MyHydro to manage it online.
- Your move in and move out dates for each address.
- Your new address.
- Phone number so we can reach you.
- If you're renting, your landlord's name and phone number.

This is what you'll need:
- If you're a residential customer, sign up online for MyHydro first (if you haven't already). If you already have an existing BC Hydro account, link it to MyHydro to manage it online.
- A forwarding address.
- Phone number so that we can reach you.
- The date you want us to cancel your service.
Important:
When you cancel your service, we produce your final bill after the move-out date. If you have pre-authorized payments, the final payment will be withdrawn from your account four days after the invoice is created.
