Business Zone II and Zone IB rates

As of April 1, 2025, the Zone II and Zone IB rates are no longer available. Business customers who were previously on these rates were automatically moved to one of the Zone I general service business rates.

How your new rate is chosen

Your new electricity rate was chosen based on a review of your account’s electricity use from February 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025.

  • Small General Service rate — Zone II customers were switched to the Small General Service rate.
  • General Service rate — Zone II customers were switched to either the Medium General Service or Large General Service rate.
  • Customers on the Exempt General Service rate in Zone IB were switched to the Medium General Service rate.

How this change happened

In February 2025, the B.C. Utilities Commission (BCUC) approved our rate design application, which included a proposal to give general service business customers in the Zone II and Zone IB rate areas (together known as non-integrated areas) the same rates as customers in the rest of the province. Customers in non-integrated areas before April 1, 2025 generally paid higher rates due to the higher costs to provide electricity service there.

The BCUC approved our proposals on February 24, 2025, and these changes came into effect on April 1, 2025.
