Zone II, Zone IB, and multi-residential service rates
As of April 1, 2025, the Zone II, Zone IB, and multi-residential service rates are no longer available. Residential customers who were previously on these rates were automatically moved to either the tiered rate or flat rate plan depending on which we estimated would be better for them. Most customers affected by these changes can save money on their electricity bills under their new rate plans.
How your new rate was chosen
Your new electricity rate was chosen based on a review of your account’s electricity use from February 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025. If your future electricity use stays around the same as in that period, we estimate that you will either save money or pay around the same under your new plan.

If your electricity use has changed or you want to explore other options, it’s quick and easy to change your rate online.
Time-of-day pricing
In addition to the tiered or flat rate, you also now have the option to select time-of-day pricing for your electricity plan. On time-of-day pricing, the price for electricity is highest in the evening and lowest overnight. It works best for customers who have some flexibility in when they use electricity. Time-of-day pricing is available with either the tiered rate or flat rate plan.

How these changes happened
In February 2025, the B.C. Utilities Commission (BCUC) approved our rate design application, which included a proposal to give customers living in the Zone II or Zone IB rate areas (together known as non-integrated areas) the same rate choices as customers living in the rest of the province. Customers living in non-integrated areas before April 1, 2025 generally paid higher rates due to the higher costs to provide electricity service there.
In the same application, we also proposed to cancel our multi-residential service rates, giving customers the same rate choices as customers with single-residential service. This change also helped most customers save money on their electricity bills under their new rates.
The BCUC approved our proposals on February 24, 2025, and these changes came into effect on April 1, 2025.
