Our Energy Coaching Service provides guidance for planning energy efficiency upgrades for your condo/apartment. This free service is available for BC Hydro or City of New Westminster electric utility customers.

Privacy policy

BC Hydro, its program partners, and the Province of British Columbia collect information, including personal information, contained in request form for the purpose of administering the Program, evaluating the effectiveness of the Program and undertaking analysis and research to inform changes to existing programs and the design of new energy efficiency programs.

BC Hydro, its program partners, and the Province of British Columbia collect, use, and disclose personal information in accordance with the following:

  •   BC Hydro - Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act ("FOIPPA") and their Privacy Policy FOIPPA authority 26(c), 27(1)(a)(i), 32(a) and 33(2)(d) & (h) (which is located at bchydro.com/privacy). BC Hydro's, and its other program partners’, including but not limited to Zero Emissions Innovation Centre and Rental Housing Council of BC, collection, use, and disclosure of the personal information on application forms is undertaken in furtherance of BC Hydro's energy conservation mandate and obligations under the Clean Energy Act and the Utilities Commission Act. If BC Hydro customers have any questions regarding the information collected on the Program application form, they are invited to call BC Hydro's Customer Service at 604-224-9376 or 1-800-224-9376 outside of the Lower Mainland.

  •   The Province of British Columbia as represented by the Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions collects your personal information under section 26(c) of FOIPPA. If customers have any questions regarding the collection, use or disclosure the information collected on the Program application form, please contact: a Senior Energy Efficiency Coordinator at EnergyCoach@BetterBuildings.gov.bc.ca or PO Box 9314 Stn Prov Govt, 4th floor, 1810 Blanshard St, Victoria, BC, V8W 9N1.

Liability Waiver

For the purposes of this paragraph, references to “BC Hydro” means British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority, Zero Emissions Innovation Centre and Rental Housing Council of BC and their respective affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, contractors, representatives, successors, assignees, and those for whom they may be responsible by law (including without limitation any energy coaches participating in the Energy Coaching Services Program (the “Program”)). BC Hydro makes no representations or warranties whatsoever as to the fitness of, the necessity for, the quality of, or the energy efficiency/savings of, any product, improvement or service, or the skill or suitability of any contractor. The Customer agrees that BC Hydro will not be liable or responsible for the products, improvements, the services or use of any contractor as it relates to the Program, and that the Customer is solely responsible for ensuring that all products, improvements, services or uses are suitable and safe. BC Hydro will not be responsible or liable for the services, including, but not limited to, the quality of the work done by any contractor or the Customer’s choice of contractor, if applicable. Furthermore: (a) The Customer shall indemnify and save harmless BC Hydro from all liability, damages, claims, demands, proceeding, penalties, causes of action, suits, fines, expenses and costs for claims, costs for injury or death of any person (including from any infectious disease outbreaks), damage to or destruction of any property, and all economic loss suffered by any person (collectively, “Losses”) arising, directly or indirectly, from or occurring by reason of the Customer’s participation in the Program and/or the implementation of any Program recommendations, including the installation and/or use of recommended products, improvements or measure(s); (b) The Customer irrevocably waives any and all claims against, and irrevocably releases and agrees not to sue, BC Hydro for and against all Losses arising from the Customer’s participation in the Program and/or the implementation of any Program recommendations, including the installation and/or use of recommended products, improvements, or measure(s) or the acts or omissions of the Customer’s contractor or other party acting at the direction or on behalf of the Customer’s contractor; and (c) This paragraph will survive completion or cancellation of Program.
