Express connections

Express connections are basic electrical connections for residential, multi-residential, commercial, or industrial structures. Whether you're a customer, an electrical consultant or an electrician, our team can help you get connected.

Our express connection service is used to:

  • Set up a basic electrical connection,
  • Connect a construction site,
  • Change an existing connection, or
  • Remove an existing connection.

Learn more about the express connection process, charges and requirements below. Ready to get connected? Create and manage connection requests online.

Is an express connection right for you?

If you answer "yes" to one or more of the questions below, you should proceed with an express connection request.

Otherwise, your request should likely be handled as a design connection project instead.

Service location

  • Overhead: Is your service location within 30 metres from an existing BC Hydro pole?
  • Underground: Is there existing underground BC Hydro infrastructure (service box or transformer) near your property?
  • Will the meter be located on the exterior of the structure or connection point (not in a meter room)?
  • Have clearances to existing BC Hydro equipment [PDF, 300 KB] been considered for building and maintaining your structures?

Service size

  • Does your request require an electrical connection that is 200 Amps or less?
  • Does your request require either a single-phase 120/240 V or 120/208 V?
