Apply for the COVID-19 Relief Fund for small businesses

The COVID-19 Relief Fund allows eligible small business customers who've closed their business for at least 14 consecutive days due to COVID-19 to have their business' electricity use charges waived for up to three months. This is a temporary program available from April 1 to June 30, 2020.

To have your business' charges waived, you need to submit an application and be approved for the program. If you're approved, the charges will be automatically waived from your account.

Before you apply, make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria. You can apply until June 30, 2020. 

To apply for more than one eligible account, submit a new application for each, up to 10 accounts.

Supporting document

To apply, you must upload a document that indicates the closure of your business due to COVID-19. This could be a photo of the business being closed, a screenshot of the business closure message on your business' website or social media channel, or a customer notification email or text message.

Do not upload documents related to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or Employment Insurance as we are not accepting these as proof of eligibility.

By submitting an application for the COVID-19 Relief Fund, I declare that the information, including the document proof, I have provided in this application is true, correct and complete to the best of my knowledge, and I am willing and able, upon request, to be contacted by BC Hydro or its authorized representative to audit or evaluate the COVID-19 Relief Fund or to provide any other documents or personnel information that may be required by BC Hydro to verify the information provided in the application.
I have read, understand and agree to the terms and conditions and have the authority to submit the application on behalf of the small business.

 

For the purposes of deciding the Small Business’s eligibility for the COVID Relief Fund and evaluating the COVID Relief Fund program, BC Hydro may collect, use, and disclose the personal information of the Small Business’s personnel in accordance with its mandate under the Hydro and Power Authority Act and under the authority of section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. BC Hydro may use the personal information of the Small Business’s personnel, as disclosed, for the purposes of administrating and evaluating the COVID Relief Fund and of verifying information in the application with other provincial government agencies and institutions. In the event that the personal information of the Small Business personnel is required, necessary consent is required from the individual.
