Pre-registration for the CleanBC Better Homes New Construction Program is temporarily closed

Pre-registration for the CleanBC Better Homes New Construction Program is temporarily closed as of September 24, 2021. Program registrations have been temporarily oversubscribed. Pre-registration forms submitted on or before this date will be processed in the order in which they were received, subject to funding availability.

If your project has been pre-approved, complete your project within 12 months of the date of your pre-approval confirmation email. If construction is complete, and you have your supporting documents ready, apply for rebates. You have 6 months from the date of your heat pump installation invoice or As-Built B.C.Energy Compliance Report, as applicable for your project, to submit your post-construction application.

CleanBC Better Homes New Construction Program Pre-registration

The CleanBC Better Homes New Construction Program provides rebates for the construction of new, high-performance, electric homes. The program is funded by the Province of British Columbia and administered by BC Hydro. Program details can be found at betterhomesbc.ca.

In order to be eligible for the program, you must pre-register by filling out the pre-registration form below. Once you’ve submitted your pre-registration form, you’ll receive an email confirming it was successfully submitted. Within 30 days of submitting this form, you’ll be notified of the status of your pre-approval.

The new home must be constructed within 12 months of receiving pre-approval. The post-construction application must be submitted within 6 months of the date of your heat pump installation invoice or As-Built B.C. Energy Compliance Report, as applicable for your rebate pathway.

You must meet the Rebate Eligibility Requirements and Terms and Conditions

Pre-registration requirements

  1. Carefully read the Rebate Eligibility Requirements and Terms and Conditions to confirm your eligibility.
  2. Determine if you’re applying for the heat pump pathway or Energy Step Code pathway. Only one rebate pathway may be selected.
  3. If you’re an Energy Advisor applying on behalf of a builder, the builder must complete the Energy Advisor Appointment Consent Form. Have a copy of the signed form ready to upload.
  4. Energy Advisors must be registered on the Program Qualified Energy Advisor list. Services must include the CleanBC Better Homes New Construction Program and if applicable to the project, Passive House.
  5. Complete and submit your pre-registration form.
