Welcome to the Home Renovation Rebate and CleanBC Better Homes rebate application form

BC Hydro, FortisBC and the Province of British Columbia have partnered to bring you a comprehensive offering of rebates to make energy efficient upgrades in your home.

If you’ve completed upgrades to your home and are ready to apply for your rebate(s), fill out the application form below.

Review the following information before you start:

Have you participated in the CleanBC Income Qualified Program?

Yes

Participants in the CleanBC Income Qualified Program (IQP) are not eligible for Home Renovation Rebate and CleanBC Better Homes rebates.

The application may take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. After we’ve collected your contact information, you will be able to save the application. If you don’t finish your application, when you end the session we’ll send you an email that will allow you to return and complete it later. Remember to press ‘Save’ along the way.

Once you’ve submitted your application, you will receive an email confirming your application was successfully submitted.

Application requirements

Review the general program and rebates terms and conditions, and the individual rebate requirements below, before you get started. Apartments, condominiums, vacation homes, garages, and new homes are not eligible for rebates.

Windows and doors requirements

Space heating requirements

There are rebates available for replacing inefficient heating systems with more efficient heating systems.

If you used electric baseboards or an electric furnace to heat your home and are now using a heat pump as your primary heating system, visit BC Hydro for rebate requirements.

If you've replaced an inefficient natural gas furnace or boiler with a more efficient natural gas furnace and boiler, visit FortisBC for rebate requirements.

If you've replaced your natural gas, oil or propane furnace with a heat pump or a dual fuel ducted heat pump, visit CleanBC Better Homes for rebate requirements.”

Water heating requirements

There are rebates available for replacing inefficient water heating systems with more efficient water heating systems.

If you’ve replaced an electric storage water heater with a heat pump water heater, visit BC Hydro or FortisBC electric for rebate requirements.

If you’ve replaced an inefficient natural gas water heater with more efficient natural gas water heater, visit FortisBC gas for rebate requirements.

If you’ve replaced a natural gas water heater with a heat pump water heater, visit CleanBC Better Homes for rebate requirements.

Water heating rebates are funded by BC Hydro, or FortisBC Electric, FortisBC Gas and CleanBC Better Homes.

Bonus rebates are funded by BC Hydro, or FortisBC and CleanBC Better Homes.
Collect your account number(s) from your utility bills (i.e. BC Hydro, FortisBC, etc.).
Have a digital copy of your contractor invoice(s) and supporting documentation, if applicable, including EnerGuide evaluation(s) documentation available. We must receive a digital copy of your invoice(s) and supporting document(s) if applicable, to process your application.
If you are not the account holder, you and the registered property owner need to fill out the Utility Account Holder Consent Form.

Due to the volume of applications that we receive, applications can take up to 90 days to process. You will be able to track the status of your application once it is submitted. Your patience is appreciated.

You’ll need the following information for each step.

Step 1: Utility providers

Identify your utility provider(s) and collect your account number(s) from your utility bills (i.e. BC Hydro, FortisBC, City of New Westminster, etc.). If you are not the account holder, you and the registered property owner need to fill out the Utility Account Holder Consent Form.

Step 2: Participant information

Provide your contact information, information about the home where the upgrades were made, and select your space heating and water heating systems.

Step 3: Upgrades

Select the upgrades you made to your home. There are four upgrade types that qualify for rebates: insulation, windows and doors, space heating and water heating. Be sure to have the required information and documentation, such as invoices and forms, ready.

Step 4: Bonuses and promo codes

Select any bonuses or enter promo codes that may apply to your application. If you received an exception code or promo code from a special offer, your contractor or a program partner, have it ready to enter.

Step 5: Receiving your rebate

Choose how you would like to receive your rebate payment.

Step 6: Review and submit

Be sure to review your application before submitting. Any missing or incorrect information will delay the process. Once you press ‘Submit’, your application will be complete, and you will receive a confirmation email and be able to track your application's status.
