Home charger rebate application

Programs may include incentives for charging your EV at specific times to reduce the amount of electricity being used during peak-demand periods, such as cold winter evenings.

FortisBC electricity customers can apply for a rebate on the FortisBC website.
Requires direction...prevent the application if "Other" or allow a "Please specify" field.

This application is applicable to single-family homes, duplexes, mobile homes, manufactured homes and row homes in B.C.

Type of residence

Single-family detached home:

A building that is occupied by one family and is not attached to another building, also known as a "detached home."

Duplex:

A building that is divided into two living units or residences, usually with separate entrances.

If you live in an apartment, condo, or townhome, use the condo/apartment/townhome application form.

For example, did you upgrade from 100-amp service to 200-amp, or from 200-amp service to 400-amp?

      This program is only intended for retrofit solutions. New builds are ineligible.

      If you're unsure if the existing outlet was installed with an electrical permit, you can check with the electrical authority who administers electrical permits in your area. If no electrical permit was obtained, you're not eligible to apply.

        Invoice requirements

        Your receipt must include:

        • Name and/or website of the retailer
        • Retailer's address and phone number
        • Purchase date and price
        • Charger brand and model

        BC Hydro is offering a rebate for select EV power management devices. If you installed one of the eligible EV power management devices and would like to apply for the rebate, please include the invoice showing proof of purchase. If you did not install an EV power management device, you do not need to upload an invoice.

        Upload a copy of the invoice for the charger installation by a licensed electrician showing proof of payment.

        In order to pay you we must send Interac e-Transfer your rebate payment amount, email, account number, security question and answer.

        Incomplete applications will not be approved or used to reserve funds. Applicants will be asked to resubmit.
        BC Hydro is collecting your personal information (specifically, name, address, phone and email) for the purposes of processing your application for the EV charger rebate program. It will be used to verify your eligibility and to contact you in the future for correspondence. This is done in accordance with BC Hydro's obligations under the Utilities Commission Act and under the authority of the Hydro and Power Authority Act.
