Home Charger Rebate Documents

Application Requirements

  1. Review the general program and rebate requirements.
  2. Collect your BC Hydro or City of New Westminster account number from your utility bill.
  3. Have the required documents ready.

Do you have the required documents ready?

To apply, you'll need to have the following documents ready to upload:

1. Charger invoice showing proof of payment

A copy of the itemized receipt for an eligible charger showing proof of payment. Must include the retailer's name, address and phone number.

2. Installation invoice (must show proof of payment and itemized costs broken down by activities performed).

A copy of the invoice for the charger installation by a licensed electrician showing proof of payment. Must show itemized costs broken down by activities performed. See a sample invoice.

3. Electrical permit number

A copy of the itemized receipt for an eligible charger showing proof of payment. Must include the retailer's name, address and phone number.

2. Inspection invoice showing proof of payment

A copy of the paid invoice for the cost of the electrical inspection by the appropriate authority: your municipality or Technical Safety BC.

3. Certificate of successful inspection

A copy of the electrical inspection certificate issued by the appropriate authority: your municipality or Technical Safety BC.

This option is only available to those who had a pre-existing 240-volt outlet which they plugged their new charger into. In the application, you'll need to confirm that the outlet is compliant with local electrical code requirements and that a permit was obtained for its installation. If you're unsure, you'll need to contact Technical Safety BC or your municipality as it depends on where your property is located. Check your jurisdiction.

BC Hydro is collecting your personal information (specifically, name, address, phone and email) for the purposes of processing your application for the EV charger rebate program. It will be used to verify your eligibility and to contact you in the future for correspondence. This is done in accordance with BC Hydro's obligations under the Utilities Commission Act and under the authority of the Hydro and Power Authority Act.
