How we're managing electrical connections and outages during COVID-19
As an essential service in the province, we're working to continue to provide reliable power to our customers. To keep our staff and critical assets safe during the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we're adjusting some of our operations related to electrical connections.
We're continuing to monitor the situation closely and will implement new measures as the situation progresses based on information and advice provided by health authorities.
Changes to our operations
Electrical connections in the field
Our field crews are continuing to support electrical connection needs. We’ve altered our work practices to ensure the safety of our crews. The majority of connection work will be able to proceed with these new work practices, but a small number of projects may not be able to be safely completed at this time.
As we alter our work practices, connection timelines may be longer than usual. We appreciate your patience.
Please work with your designer or interconnections manager to determine how your project might be affected.
COVID-19 has created a new situation where our homes serve a variety of functions, from an office to a classroom, so we recognize the importance of minimizing planned outages. Prior to proceeding with a planned outage, we’ll review it to ensure there’s an imminent need for the outage to take place.
Our Express Connect Coordinators are still available to help you initiate your projects. You can submit a connection request online or by calling us at 1 (877) 520 1355, available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or via email.
Suite meter installations
For buildings that have temporary master meters installed, individual suite meter installations will proceed at this time if our COVID-19 safety requirements can be met. Please contact your designer or interconnections manager for details on the requirements. If we’re unable to proceed with individual suite meter installations for your project and you would like to discuss billing options, please contact Business Account Services at 1 (866) 266 6366, available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or via email.
Our crews and response times
We ask that if you see our crews and contractors out in the field, please respect social distancing measures and maintain a physical distance of at least two metres. For projects on construction sites, we may request that the site be cleared of trades workers and the public while our crews complete their work to ensure everyone stays safe.
