Before you begin

This form is for customers, contractors and manufacturers who would like their products reviewed and added to our following qualified product lists:

These qualified products meet the required product specifications and safety certifications to be eligible for customer-generation and/or the solar and battery rebate offer.

To qualify for customer generation and be added to our qualified product list, the inverter must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be grid interactive photovoltaic inverters certified under CSA C22.2 No. 107.1, Power Conversion Equipment, or an equivalent U.S./Canadian binational certification standard (e.g., UL1741) deemed acceptable by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) within British Columbia
  • Compliant with CSA 22.3 No.9:20 rules
  • Must be equipped with anti-islanding protection per CEC Part 1, rule 84-008

To qualify for our battery storage rebate and be added to our qualified product list for rebate eligible battery storage systems, the battery storage system must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be new, purchased in Canada, owned by the eligible customer, in good working order and not previously installed at another property
  • Must not replace an existing battery energy storage system at the Eligible Property
  • Compliant with CSA C22.2 No. 107.1:16 (R2021)
  • Compliant with CSA C22.3 No. 9:20
  • Battery energy storage system must be certified to CUL1973
  • Battery energy storage systems installed in the habitable or living space of dwelling units must meet the cell level performance criteria of CUL9540A

Note: BC Hydro is currently reviewing our residential demand response (Peak Saver) strategy for battery storage systems to expand eligibility this fiscal year. Alternatively, customers may apply for an eligible rebate-only battery storage system (up to $1,500) and participate in Peak Saver Challenges for more rewards.

To qualify for customer generation and be added to our qualified product list, the monitoring and control device must be tested and certified with the inverter as an integrated system, as applicable, in accordance with the following standards and certification requirements:

  • UL 1741 (3rd Edition)
  • UL 1741 Certification Requirement Decision (CRD) for Power Control Systems (PCS)
  • UL 1741 Certification Requirement Decision (CRD) for Multimode (MM) Inverters

Note: Alternatively, once a revised UL standard is officially published that incorporates the above Certification Requirement Decisions (CRDs), the inverter system shall be tested and certified as a complete system in accordance with the latest applicable UL standard.
